SS10 TRENDS: ACCESSORIES

It's a new season of fashion fun! Spot the trends in our SS10 special, continuing with the accessories of the season.

From day one of fashion week we knew we'd want to wear headpieces this season. Anna Sui sent out her girls in high band hats, Erin Fetherston in sheer see-through hats with bows, Gareth Pugh in fairytale creature horns and Galliano in chiffon hats decorated with flowers. Wether you’re in to cute bows (Marc by Marc Jacobs and Luella), extravaganza (Vivienne Westwood) or classics (Alberta Ferretti), this is the season to decorate your hair; or hide your face (Hussein Chayalan's hat with flipped-down sun visors had us craving at first sight). Visors aside, the runways were full of crazy sunglasses too, this season evolving from the trend of many years (supersized) to great experimental shapes. Lagerfeld put lace over his for Chanel, Moschino Cheap&Chic gave us sunglasses in flower shapes and we spotted Alien-like shapes at both Marni, Louis Vuitton and Hussein Chayalan.
The shoe of the season is no doubt the McQueen heel – an outstanding beauty of pattern and heel that seem fit in the world of fairytales more than on the foot of a human being. At Chanel we spotted clogs and at Miu Miu a similar shaped (although clad in flourish-pattern satin) wooden heel. The winning shoe trend of the last decade, the gladiator sandal has been given new life and Givenchy, Ohne Title and Thakoon all sent out a bondadge-like version of the nagged 00s classic.
